Blending Bloodlines for a Better Tomorrow

Brahman calves waiting for Spring

Picture taken March 27, 2006 while putting out range cubes. We were "flash" rotating our pastures...changing to a fresh pasture every two days while waiting for nighttime tempatures to warm enough to kick start the grass. We have been blessed with a couple of inches of rain that has refilled the ponds. At the time this picture was taken, it had been a couple of weeks without rain. The calves are growing like weeds. Postscript...we had no way of knowing it at the time but the spring and summer rains were not to come and we ended up in a serious drought that put the grazering skills to a test. We will add a few more pasture divisions in 2007 to give a little more control over how much grass is meted out at a time.
